I have a high deductible so I pay for most stuff I most years but my wife had a major health issue this year, and we hit our deductible and insurance kicked in like is supposed to happen. Her cancer is very rare and we were able to seek out 2nd and 3rd options from the major cancer centers with specialists for my wife’s type of cancer all covered by insurance.

When I personally have an issue, I call my doctor and he’ll get me in the next day, or sometimes even the same day. Feel free to do things to fix the problems with our healthcare system like this ridiculous billing example, but don’t fuck up my coverage in the process. That’s the part that you miss when you advocate for the Canadian system. No thanks. That would take me (and many other people with good insurance ) a huge step backwards in terms of timely access to doctors.
